Beautiful Tour to Swat, Kalam

Northern Pakistan Travel

Pakistan is full of beautiful places, and the northern areas are like a piece of heaven on Earth. I planned a Beautiful Tour to four amazing places: Swat, Kalam, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Kalash Valley. Each place had its own beauty, culture, and peaceful environment.

In this blog, I will share my full travel experience. This is a simple, helpful, and fun travel guide for anyone who wants to explore the north of Pakistan.

🏞️ Swat Valley Land of Green Mountains

My tour started in Swat Valley, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Swat is famous for its green hills, clear rivers, and peaceful weather. It is often called the “Switzerland of Pakistan”.

Top Attractions in Swat:

  • Malam Jabba: A ski resort with chairlifts, zipline, and snow fun in winter.
  • Fizagat Park: A calm riverside park, great for families and photography.
  • White Palace Marghazar: A historical building made of white marble.
  • Swat Museum: A good place to learn about the local history and culture.

What I Loved:

The people were very welcoming. I enjoyed the fresh air, green views, and friendly smiles everywhere.

🌲 Kalam Valley A Natural Wonderland

After Swat, I traveled to Kalam Valley, about a 3-hour drive through the mountains. The road was bumpy in some places, but the views were truly breathtaking.

Must-See Places in Kalam:

  • Mahodand Lake: A beautiful lake surrounded by snow-covered mountains and pine trees. You can do boating here.
  • Ushu Forest: A magical forest with tall trees, perfect for nature lovers.
  • Blue Water: A hidden gem with crystal-clear water.
  • Kandol & Spindhor Lakes: You need to do a little trekking to reach them, but they are totally worth it.

Travel Tip of Beautiful Tour

The best time to visit Kalam is from May to September. It’s green and cool in summer.

🏔️ Gilgit-Baltistan Heaven on Earth

Then I went to Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). It’s in the far north and famous for the highest mountains, big glaciers, and colorful valleys.

  • Skardu: Home to Shangrila Lake, Shigar Fort, and amazing mountain views.
  • Fairy Meadows: A green field with the view of Nanga Parbat, the 9th highest mountain in the world.
  • Khunjerab Pass: The Pakistan-China border at 15,000 feet above sea level.

What I Loved:

Clean environment, cold weather, fresh fruits, and super friendly locals. I even bought dry fruits and handmade items.

🏕️ Kalash Valley Culture, Colors & Traditions

My final stop was the Kalash Valley, near Chitral. Kalash people have a different language, religion, and culture. It was a totally new experience!

Things to See in Kalash:

  • Bumburet Village: Main tourist area with hotels and cultural spots.
  • Kalash Temples and wooden houses.
  • Traditional Festivals: Like Joshi (spring festival) and Chilam Joshi where people dance and wear colorful clothes.
